Default Ornament pattern -- your advice

Does anyone out there have a pattern they would be willing to give me for a Christmas ornamnet? I am the Noncommissioned Officer Incharge of a flight of 11 people and I want to give them something for Christmas and I figured an ornament would be appropriate. These will be gifts only, not selling.

Thanks
Brad

edit: Ok, tell me what you guys think.

Brad,
Do you have anything in particular in mind for the ornament?

I have two girls and the rest are guys, so I am looking for something sort of unisex in nature. Really I am just going with the criteria of "if I like it and think I can scroll it with out messing it up". I thought about doing something with an Air Force theme but decided this is about Christmas not our job, and I just want to do something nice for the men and women who work hard for me 24/7/365.

I may have done the "unthinkable" and actually designed one myself. I was playing around on the computer last night and actually made something that may be nice. Now if I can just get it to wood. Once I get the drawing complete I will scan it and post it so people can comment.

Any offers are still welcomed as that I do not know if this will actually cut well.

Brad
I think I want a copy of the pattern! I like it very much. Excellent pattern, is that the first one you have designed?

While I really like the individual elements of the ornamant, I think it's a bit too busy. Ornaments are small and the more detail you have, the harder they are to scroll. For example, the text of Merry Christmas will have to be pretty small to fit on the ornament and that will be tough to cut well.

I would suggest using either the dove or the bells, but not both. You may then be able to enlarge the text a bit to make it easier to cut.

Watch out for unsupported bits inside the letters, especially the letter R & A. You may want to try & tie them into the pattern to prevent them from dropping out.

Please take my critique in the spirit in which it was intended. All in all, I say good job on the design. I really think it's a nice gesture on your part and will be much appreciated. Better figure on making this a yearly thing though. Once you've made ornaments, folks will look forward to them every year.

Oh and by the way, make sure to sign them. I take a very fine marker and write my initials and date in some inconspicuous place on my ornaments and every year, people look to make sure I signed them.

Nice ornament!
I like it the way it is, but if you do take out either the dove or the bell, mke the remaining item bigger.

Plaquerd: Yes that is the first time I have attempted to make anysort of pattern. You are welcome to use that pattern if you like. Also feel free to modify it to fit your style.

Good comments Bill. I was also thinking that the words need to come out. When I designed it originally it was bigger and I realized no one would want an ornament that size. I brought it down and the letters just got to small. So I am thinking I want to go with the dove and maybe keep the holly. I like the idea of scrolling the dove more than the bells. I had to be real careful to keep the bells from having drops and a *sneeze* while cutting is going to end up in something resembling the Liberty Bell.

Your critique was exactly what I was looking for. It was taken as it was meant, to make an OK pattern great.

Thanks
Brad
