Talking What size are your banknotes?

Banknotes? What have they to do with scrolling?
I'm making another puzzle box, this time with a little bit extra-a secret drawer that can only be opened once the box is open. So that when you think you've solved the puzzle, you haven't solved it yet...
Anyway, the secret drawer could be useful to hide your pocket money away from your better half, but I need to know the size of your banknotes. The drawer should be deep enough to hold maybe fifty notes (about 1/2").
Yes I know, the big problem there is, who's got fifty notes hidden away?
I would be very grateful for any answers.
