Default Veterans/Remembrance Day

To all that have served whether in conflict or times of relative peace I just wanted to say thank you. For those that gave their very lives I offer my respect and vow that you will never be forgotten by me.

In keeping with a promise I made myself over a year ago, thank you to The Queens Royal Lancers in Basrah, I owe you guys everything and will never forget your sacrifice(s) on our behalf.

Todd

Here here!!! And thank you, Todd, for your service. Those of us on the board remember your service.

And to the rest of you vets...Thank you as well!

For those of you who are still oveseas thank you as well. If any of you are in Kuwait, say "hey" to my brother-in-law, Sgt. Don Noel, he handles the night shift at the Kuwait airport.

Amen to that! Without you who serve or served we wouldn't enjoy the freedoms or liberties we all take for granted. I honor and respect all service men and women and my hat is off to you all.

I'm totally in agreement. I didn't serve, but have the utmost respect for those who did.
A couple weeks ago, the VFW was selling Rememberence Poppies outside a store. I was reaching in my pocket before the guy got to me. After I put the money in the can he handed me a poppie and said thank you. I said: "No, Thank YOU. You served, I didn't." He was shocked and didn't know what to say. If you really want to see a reaction, thank a Vietnam vet. You may bring tears to their eyes. I know, I did it once.
Finally, my boss called me last night with a problem. The salesmen didn't give the company's tickets for today's Notre Dame-Air Force game to any customers and didn't want them to go to waste. I've got a craft show this weekend and can't go. I thought about my friend Bob who is a Navy vet. He's never been to a college game and would like to go. I don't know who's more excited, him or his son.
He's picking up the tickets on his way to the game with his son, wife and a friend of his son. What he doesn't know is that they will be sitting on the 35 yard line, third row behind Air Force. I wish I could be there to enjoy it with them.
It sure feels good to give back to those who sacrificed for us.

Let me add my huge THANK YOU to all who served and are serving. I cherish my freedom that you sacrificed to provide. I will never forget that you bought my freedom with your sweat, tears and blood. I honor every one of you.
Sincerely,
Chris

For those that responded I say thank you and I know where your hearts are. A day such as this which crosses borders and oceans I thought would drum a bit more response than this. None the less, as long as there are a few that choose to reflect there will always be those that choose to defend.

Don't mistake silence for lack of care, Todd - Remembrance Sunday is a big day on this side of the Pond too. Over here, though, it's more about reflecting on the tragedy of war and its consequences rather than a celebration of heroism. There will be parades (and rightly so) but these will be to commemorate the fallen and will be conducted with the quiet dignity we feel is appropriate.

If there's a lack of international response to this thread, it's probably a sign that other nations regard today as a matter of personal grief for so many families. As such, we tend to show our respect by keeping our feelings close and not intruding. Nevertheless, those of us who have seen active service will always honor our fallen comrades and those who have not seen active service will always appreciate our commitment.

"THANK YOU" to all of our service men/women who have served and are currently serving our country. I respect ALL of you. For those of you that may have a loved one fighting for our country, I pray for their safe return.
Happy Scrolling.

Default Veterans Day

Thanks to all that do remember veterans day and not just let it go by without observing it. We should all be greatful for our freedom. The jets were flying around the other day waiting to fly over the stadium for the football game on que and to think some poeple have to see this everyday in another reason. God bless the USA!!!!!!!
