Default I LOVE hunting in MONTANA!!!

Just got home from Montana....what a fun trip! Short story is I filled all three of my antelope tags.........made an "oops" in filling a doe tag by shooting a yearling buck........so had to use my trophy tag on him. Filled both doe tags with shots at 225 and 300 yards......suffice it to say the 7 mm Rem mag left a mighty LARGE exit wound and there was no tracking needed

The other guys in camp weren't interested in freighting their meat home, so I also came back with another antelope and 2 mule deer. I've been doing a lot of cutting the past few days...but not with my scrollsaw

Congrats Barry, I am jealous. I have dreamed of hunting out that way for mulies, antelope and elk. If I ever win a lottery someday maybe my dream could become a reality. Congatulations on a successful hunt. I also like my rem. 7mm mag. Steve

Congrats on the great hunt! Montana is a great place for it. Sounds like you got lots of good meat.

Well, I think it is just barbaric that you would go and kill perfectly innocent animals, when you could just as easy go to the supermarket and buy all the meat you want.
And then to brag about it ...

Congrats Barry on the hunt. I am jealous that my husband is not as into hunting as others. I much prefer fresh game meat as opposed to store bought steroid injected meat any day. Also it would be cheaper on the grocery bill too! You must have almost enough meat to last the year now!

Gosh , I am jealous too. I haven't had some good venison, in so long. and Marsha, they don't sell dear meat in my store. and if we didn't thin the game out, they would starve to death. my friend, have you ever been to a feed lot? where the cows are neck and neck, then the way the are butchard, is very sad in deed, game gets to live free. and when time comes have to be thined out. or they would be to many dear, and would eat all the food, leaving all to suffer. sorry I could get on a roll here. but some folks, are not raised the same way. and don't understand the whole story. I prefer to raise my own meat, and do my own butchering. I know they don't suffer. and have a great life. and my kids didn't have to worry about desese, and other things. that was very emportant to me. funny how someone can catch a fish with no more thought then swatting a fly. but when it comes to game, they get all bamby like. well I better shut up. or I might creat a fuss. your friend Evie

Well said Evie,
I was biting my tongue, and fighting every instinct.
I agree this thread could get ugly.
Congrats to Barry.
Marsha- The meat in a grocery store was once living to, just that someone else does the dirty work.

You guys can rationalize this all you want, I think it's barbaric to go out and shoot animals for sport, and it can only be the sport of the hunt that brings you out, because there are all kinds of animals that are raised for food, hell there was even a store here in Hamilton selling all kinds of game meat including horse meat.
You will never change my mind so we might as well stop this thread right now.

Hunting/gathering and providing wild game, fish, garden raised veggies and fruit, and wild berries to family, friends, and my church community is what makes me me.

I will not apologize for it, stop posting about it, nor judge those who disagree.

Respectfully,

Barry Stratton

Well hear we go. Marsha, I can see how , and maybe why you feel the way you do. but judging all hunters, as , just for sport, is not true in most, and I will say MOST . cases. there are alot of folks that hunt for sport only. wonting the big horns on there walls. but that is just not how it is. alot of us. hunt to prserve are wilderness, and wild life. and for meat for sure. and getting some great horns, and heads, is just another way to brag, but for me. I love the meat. and skins. I know some folks that wont even eat a home grown egg, becouse it has a babby inside or some bull like that. like Barry says, I don't have to apologize for keeping are wilderness areas safe for all game, as well as giving my family good meat. we could go as far as cutting down trees for are crafts. that hurt are game as well. we could get deep here. we all kill in some way . some for food. some to meat are narcestic needs. but all is not bad. some just see it differant. I think if more folks would get educated , in all the ways we distroy are lands. maybe. we could come together, an learn how to prserve it. like not building bigger houses, and emproching on the game that live there. useing areasols. and burning gass to go get that icecream. just becouse I or we kill some game. that doesn''t make us bad. some folks can kill in a hart beet, with just a word, or a faceshull exspresion. shaming others, into doing things they wouldn't do, if only they had understanding. the hunterns and gun holders is not whats hurting this country, its the lose of understanding of what is emportant. I just wonder, how many folks, stop useing things to save are air, whicth in fack kills live stock as well, just becouse you don't carry a gun out to kill your meat. that doesnt mean you don't kill them.
