Question Freud 2-1/4 HP Variable Speed Fixed Base Router

I have been very pleased with the FT-1700 router. Runs smooth, plenty of power, above-the-table height and lock features - - - - - however - - - -

Mine has run into a problem

Cranks down just fine but has a big hitch in its git-a-long coming up. If I was a mechanical genious, it would seem that it is slipping a thread on a half-nut assembly. Crank up three turns and it slips back one. Most of the time I have to push it up from the bottom. Anyone have any ideas???????????

I appreciate your input.

fred

sounds like it might be cross threaded Fred? is there a way to remove the ring and possibly clean the threads?
