| Trying A Different Camera Picked up a cheap Canon PowerSmart A460. It seems quite user friendly compared to my Olympus Camedia C-5000.
It was sitting beside a Kodak that I thought looked better at a higher price and they firmly and quite adamantly told me to forget about the Kodak and get the Canon .
Does anyone here have a Canon PowerShot A460 ? What are your opinions of it ?
So far it has been taking what looks like good pictures and I know for sure that the macro feature is a lot better than the Olympus.
We have family here for the thanksgiving long weekend so I have not had much of a chance to try it. Also , it has been pouring rain here for the last week but the forecast is for "some" sun tomorrow.
If I get a chance I want to take some pictures with both cameras under same lighting conditions to compare . If the Canon is better than the Olympus , then someone will be getting a really good price on the Olympus complete with two $45.00 each Lithium Ion Rechargeable Battery packs and charger and a 128MB card etc.. I have over $600.00 tied up in that Camera and would be great for someone with photographic skills that understands the settings for manual operation.
I have 30 days to try out the Canon and if it does not produce better on Automatic setting than my Olympus I will get a full refund .

| G'day Bill,
The above was posted by an impostor my 2 1/2 yr old grandson.
I think he is telling you you got a pretty good deal and wishes you all the best with your new camera.
I'm looking forward to seeing more pics of your work.

W.Y. | G'day Bill,
No! We don't celebrate thanksgiving.
We just had a long weekend with Monday being a holiday for the Queens' Birthday.
Our next is Christmas with Christmas Day and Boxing day holidays.
Enjoy your time with the Kids and Grand kids, it's nice having them all together.
All the best |

| John, Boxing Day,??????
bill good luck on your camera. I have heard that is a good one. but don't know for sure.
My son got me a Casio EX-P600 for my birthday a couple years ago. it is a digital. I didn't even know anything about the digitales before. but gosh I am obsessed with it now. alot of the picture post i have done latly. has been with it. it has 2800 pixcales. so I can take a picture Of a picture. and play with it on adobe photomate. cut out stuff, and change the color and lower the pixs for loading onto the forum. I use it like a scanner. its a great camera. IFFFF your new cammera doesn't work out. this is a good un.I don't have, to even zoom in on something, just point and click, and zoom in latter, and crop what i wont. your friend Evie |

It's the day after Christmas day so we get two days off. I've heard and read heaps of reasons for why it's called "Boxing Day" and I don't think anybody knows for sure.
I think the Poms have the same holiday.

| Good luck with the camera Bill. If it doesn't work as you would like, think about trying for a DSLR if you can afford one. Cheap isn't the word, but for taking pictures of challenging subjects, the manual settings will make a big difference. I am working now on how to take pictures of mirror finished pieces. Best I have done is with a 30 second exposure in the evening, surrounding the piece with black fabric. Still playing though.

| Thanks for your concern Tor but I have returned that one . It was worse on Auto than the one I have now although the focus was much better than mine and so was the macro setting. Seems there are advantages and disadvantages to certain ones. To get one that works well on Auto for all shots could take a long search. Nice that the big stores have their satisfaction guaranteed policy in effect.
A DSLR is totally out of my budget price range but I have heard some very good reports about them .
