Yea, we're back in business, Michigan has a balanced budget! We feared for so long we'd have to make cuts cuts cuts, but somehow the governor managed a plan where we the people get to "invest" more money into government instead. Fancy term for higher taxes, lol. We have a new tax..oops, I mean "investment" system in place where we get to have a service umm "investment" too. We apparantly have two kinds of sevices, essential and non-essential. As "investors", we are incapable of making the decision as to what services are essential and which are not. Lucky us, the governor has created a list of every possible service and lets us know which are essential and which are not. Any thing non-essential we add a 6% investment fee on. Automotive repairs are essential. Lawn maintenance is not. Of course, it's illegal to not cut your grass, but it's not essential for your grandpa who's 95 with a new hip and 2 new knees to hire a lawn service when he can cut the grass himself. Pay phones are not essential, so bring an extra 6% to stick in the 25cent slot. The shoe shine boy down at the corner better have his sales number hmmm, 5 yrs ago there was a speach from our governor, and I quote almost verbatim " And in 5 yrs, your gonna be blown away ! " Well, I sure am! Everyone can now fell safe to come to michigan, buy a house, open a business. "invest"!

yes, but after having my DH laid off and not knowing when or if he would be back to work, I was happy to see that it finally passed and he went back to work. It was something that should have been taken care of 6 months ago and not by the governor, but the legislature. Theresa |

Hi Jeff; I can sympatise with your cuts, cuts and more cuts and it is not just in USA . I was supposed to go to a city hospital 120 km away when they call me for tests for torn a shoulder rotator cuff because that test has been pulled from the local hospitals . I waited two months and a week and they never called so I phoned them. They said my problem is non life threatening so it could be another sixteen weeks before I get called . They said call in another month or so for an update on their schedule. They informed me that many of the top surgeons and technicians have moved south of the border because our Canadian government has too many cuts to services and payements for their services. Canada used to have the best health care in the world and now because of government beurocracy it is going the way of USA and if it carries on in this direction we will eventually be classified as a third world country as far as health care is concerned. They are trying to make it a two tier system where only the very rich can get immediate medical attention . Problem is that I have read on the internet (where else ? ) that the longer a torn rotator cuff is left without surgery , the greater the chance of it not healing or ever coming back to normal. W.Y. |
