Default Need some expert opinions

I have a chance to take my santa clock (that I have won best of show with)
to the Arkansas State Fair. Which is about 2 hours away from me. Which means I would have to drive a total of 8 hours to take it there and to pick it back up after the fair is over. If you had this chance would you take it?
You can see a picture of it in my gallery. Donnab

Yes, you should. In WI, the open class items are not selected for state fair like in most states, which if I remember right are selected at the county level through the county fairs. Its an honor to be selected to be in such a prestegious group of woodworkers. There may be a local regional office that handles the youth state fair entries that take a truckload of stuff up to the fair for the kids, they might be a possible transporter for it. Check with your county extension office. If you dont enter it, you will always wonder how it would have done there, and will probably regret not doing so. Its a great piece, be proud of it, and show it off Donna! Dale
EDIT: I apologize Donna, you requested an experts opinion. I am no expert, but just offering my thoughts on it.

Donnab,
I’m no expert but like most people I’ll be glad to give my opinion. I don’t know if you sell your work or you plan too in the future, but by showing what you can do to a large number of people with little cost to you, you are ahead of the game. Be sure to take lots of pictures of the display and any awards you receive. They can be used to help sell your work.

Thanks guys, I have tooken your advice and I faxed in my paper work this morning. Looks like I'm driving to Little Rock Saturday.
As for if I sell my work, I have sold a few pieces and would love to do a craft show. I just don't have a sales tax number yet and don't really know just how much items to take with me.
Anyway, I'll let you know how I do at the fair but it will be the end of October before I will know. Wish me luck, I feel like I will need it in a big city like Little Rock. Donnab
