Default Now that was freaky....

Ok. Picture this. I walk out of my garage and there is a smell of plastic burning, and smoke is coming from my scrollsaw. ITS OFF! I freak out. Run down the stairs. Grab my scrollsaw and start to pull it out of the garage.

I couldn't figure out what was going on.

I have a magnifying lamp attached on my saw. The garage door was up. The sun was setting at just the perfect height. The rays were reflecting through my magnifying lamp and hitting my ON button of my saw.

It was LITERALLY melting my saw. I was probably 5 minutes from having a heck of a mess on my hands. And about 5 minutes from a new saw (which I need...think that was God's way of telling me to bite the bullet and buy one).

Word from the wise, watch your lamps and sun. They do not go hand in hand.

Now I know why there is a cover plate over the magnafying glass and it does have a warning to "keep closed when not in use"

Glad you were around to take care of the situation Scrollin4fun. Bet your heart beat sped up a bit when all this was going on.
The sun can do lots of things like that.......my dad use to collect hub caps and had them stacked near the porch. One day the porch caught on fire, and the fireman told him it was the sun reflecting off of the hub caps and started the fire. We all need to be very careful.

I'm glad my saw isn't close to the window.
