| CD burn Having the worst time ever trying to burn pictures and article to cd to send in for design contest. I'm using IE, seems that's the only software I have other than some music software that doesn't deal with regular files. I write it, it says it's done...I did this three times now. I go click on the cd to see what's on it and it's still empty. Tried it in some sort of High mat format or whatever and that converted the files, then copied them, I waited and waited, then finally, clicked finished. Check the cd...it's still blank. ???

| Thanx...I downloaded and tried that. Unfortunately, I have one or more of 3 problems...bad cd's, bad burner, or dumb operator. I spent so many hours now trying all these cd's, downloading programs and whatnot, that I could have just emailed the folder, even with my slow phone connection.

| If you are mailing, why not just print it out (the article and the pictures) and mail them? If you want to email them, you can email the article as a document and the picture as a jpg. Not sure why you want it on a CD??

| I don't know how computer savvy you are so excuse the details. Are you writing the files to the CD after you copy them? I know, it sounds a little quirky but make sure you are following the procedure below (from the help file)
Insert a blank, writable CD into the CD recorder.
Open My Computer.
Click the files or folders you want to copy to the CD. To select more than one file, hold down the CTRL key while you click the files you want. Then, under File and Folder Tasks, click Copy this file, Copy this folder, or Copy the selected items.
If the files are located in My Pictures, under Picture Tasks, click Copy to CD or Copy all items to CD, and then skip to step 5.
In the Copy Items dialog box, click the CD recording drive, and then click Copy.
In My Computer, double-click the CD recording drive. Windows displays a temporary area where the files are held before they are copied to the CD. Verify that the files and folders that you intend to copy to the CD appear under Files Ready to be Written to the CD.
Under CD Writing Tasks, click Write these files to CD. Windows displays the CD Writing Wizard. Follow the instructions in the wizard. |

| Jeff:
Sending you a PM.
From my quick reading of your posts in this thread, my guess is either hardware failure, or a bad driver (including a H/W interface problem down at the HAL level or BIOS.)

| Get yourself "Nero" cd burning software. They have a trial version and it is very easy to use.

| Ok, smarty pants Dale! I might have an answer. Are you using the right CD to burn onto? If you are using a video CD it won't work! You want a CD-RW, or a CD-R. SO THERE DALE! I'm not saying there's not other problems, but if you've checked out everything else, it just MIGHT be that. And how do I know this? I frustrated myself for almost an hour the first time I tried making CDs, son came in and said "Mom, you got a DVD not a CD." Of course, my intelligent reply was "Huh?" Try it, it just might work!!
