Default New (Old?) Tool

I just was given an old Dremel moto-lathe 700. I already have a Craftsman capable of turning a 38" spindle, but currently have no place to put it. Perhaps this will get me doing a little turning until I create a space for my other lathe. Cute little thing, perfect for pens, as soon as I replace the missing tailstock center.

Sorry, no photos yet. Tomorrow... I think.

Hi Tor.
Nothing like a free tool . Especially a lathe so you can be much more diversified along with you other woodworking hobbies.
Here is a parts list of your lathe .

http://www.owwm.com/files/PDF/Dremel/700708revparts.pdf

A missing tailsstock center should not be hard to find. Do you know if it is a #1 or # 2 morse taper on that lathe ? Or does it even use the morse taper principal or some other way of holding a pen mandrel?

Is this what yours looks like ?

I have seen a few of them on sale in ebay and some other sites for around $29.00 and up
Here is one such posting.

It is quite a small lathe but should be fine for pens and bottle stoppers etc .
Will be interested to hear how much (or little) power it has when you get it up and running. And yes, please do post a picture of yours.
W.Y.

Nice tool to get. It might get you into turning.

I think it will be a nice tool, and yes, it may get me back into turning, since I don't have space for my other lathe right now. I will post a picture, but the one Bill posted is the same, in better outside condition.

It is. Should be fun when I get it going. At the moment I am working on some cabinet doors while my SS is temporarily out of commission. Just a burned out speed control, but I cannot work at full speed. It does mean that I am firing up the noisier tools of the shop, which in this humid climate is only to the good.
