Default Fair Time

Well it is that time of year again when I get to go to the local fair and do scrolling demonstrations with my mentor Roy Brown.
This year we are doing something different and scheduling specific demonstrations for specific times.
In the past it was basically a free for all where we just answered questions that people asked and showed them a thing or two on the saw.

Now we have this schedule
  • Scroll Saw Basics...blade selection and basic cutting techniques
  • Jigsaw and Tray puzzles
  • Fretwork
  • Beveled cutting
  • Inlays
  • Compound Cutting
  • Segmentation and Intarsia
I know it is hard to answer all the questions they have in such a short time but hopefully we will inspire a few new scrollers and maybe even get some more members on the board.
Looking forward to the event and I will report back after the weekend.

If I would have known it was this weekend I would have come to check it out. I have family on the coast and was planning a trip in the next couple weeks. This weekend is booked for me, one of the towns here is hosting a Garlic Festival. Oh well, maybe next time.

If you are ever in the neighbourhood Sherri, be sure to call. I am always up for a cup of Timmies and a chinwag about scrolling.

Tonight the fair was a bust, The first night is usually to allow judging of entries.
There were no scrolling entries at all this year.
And to think I could have won first place

I did get to try the EX21 though and that was a real treat!

Back from the fair.
Not as busy as last year but we did get some great interest from those that came to our booth.
I got a quick request for a birthday present for a Dragon Boater.
so I threw together this paddle.

It is around 44" long so it was a bit of a challenge on an 18" saw... I did some final trimming of the handle on the EX21 oooo how I want one of those!
