Thumbs down Buying Patterns

Hi
I am from Australia and have just got ripped of buying a pattern from Wildwood designs when I puchased it they said $6.95 and no postage and when I got it 26 days latter the price had gone up to $41.
If people from O/S are thinking of buying patterns from a certain company in the USA be careful, as I have a printed receipt to say there was no charge for postage.
Thanks
Paul

Whoaaa. Where did you order this pattern from? This definitely is not the norm in the good old USA. For every rip off artist, there will be 50 legitimate ones happy to retain you as a customer.

hold on there, 1st off slamming the USA for one company isn't cool there are lots of great companies in the US to buy patterns from, it would be nice if you provided the companies name instead of such an open statement condemming the US

Perhaps your complaint would be better suited if filed with the company for whom youve done business with. If you choose to let one bad experience stop you from doing any business with another American company its your choice, but I do think your post belongs in someone elses hands instead of on here. I am sorry if you took it as a blight on all companys as it was not my intention as I have bought patterns from other companys and it has been great, sent via email so you only paid for the actual pattern. The company in question is Wild wood Designs and I have also contacted them but have had no reply that is why I put this warning up.
Sorry again for any upset I caused

Default Wildwood Strikes Again!

Paul, it may be terribly difficult to get an answer from Wildwood. They are notorious for not answering Emails and dodging phone calls. You probably should have mentioned them in your first post and maybe people wouldn't have jumped to conclusions. I took your post as a warning to anyone buying patterns etc, to be careful, not really dissing the USA.
If you paid by credit card, can't you protest the charge with your credit card company?

I agree with what Buzz has said Wildwood designs has a bad record even here in the States, it seems they will only ship via UPS hence the large fee for shipping, I run a shipping dept and its beyond me why they ship that method when Global Priority flat rate is 11.00 in a flat rate envelope

When I buy from any company I always make sure to send an email and ask if they ship to Canada and how much I can expect to pay. This way I have no surprises at the end.

Paul,
If I may suggest, edit your first post so that it mentions Just the company you are miffed at or you will get many of our hackles up.

Paul,
I had the same experience with Wildwood Designs. A pattern that was listed as $9, came to nearly $50 once I paid the UPS charge to Canada

I'll be taking Diane's advice before purchasing from Wildwood, or any other company for that matter, email first.
