| Snow in South Africa I know it is a regular occurrence for many of you in winter, but not here! Last night we had snow all around the country, for the first time in 26 years. Very unusual...we are freezing because we are not really geared up for this kind of weather. The worst off are the many homeless who sleep out in the streets. |

| We always think of South Africa as very hot so I for one never thought that you would ever have snow. Here, where we are used to snow, we are having a heat wave right now and it is not really pleasant. The heat is not bad but the humidity is atrocious.
Keep close to the saw for some heat....and never lose your smile

| Diane, it is difficult to imagine a heat wave and high humidity right now But see? I'm still smiling!
Mia, I'm trying to stay warm but my house is built for warm weather - high ceilings and uncarpeted tile floors |

| Very funny Dale
Merle, generally we'd have an overnight temperature of about 5 deg C, warming up to around 20 deg C at midday |

| When the temp reaches around -5C here we pack up our sandles and slip on our sneakers.
It is all relative isnt it. I wouldn't want to live on the streets in that weather.

| No thanks Gill
We've also had some rain and even hail here on the highveld - the Cape is known for wet weather in winter, but for Pretoria and Jhb it is an anomaly!
Very weird... |
