| Spel chker The Spell checker on this site is great. So is the program I use called IE Spell for most other places, except for the e-mails I send on Outlook Express. I can't find anything that will correct my spelling on that. Any ideas??? TIA

| Outlook Express? I switched to the more secure and equally easy to use cross-platform email client Thunderbird a long time ago. It has a built-in spell checker, which will alert you to errors as you type if you like. It will port your emails and settings from Outlook for you, making the switch easy. If this interests you it is available for free download at www.mozilla.com . I also prefer the Firefox browser to IE, and again more secure, starting with the fact that IE runs as a form of "superuser" on windows, with the privileges to change just about any setting and install anything, at least according to my reading. To me, something as front-line as a web browser ought to be restricted in what it can do, in case something malicious takes it over. The biggest difference between these programs and the microsoft versions is in naming conventions.
If you prefer to just get a spell checker for Outlook, you will need to talk to someone else.

| Outlook Express has a built-in spell checker. You can access it two ways. You can either go into tools, options, spelling and set it to check all outgoing messages. Or, you can check your spelling in a message you have created. In the create message window, click tools, then spelling or hit F7.

| Outlook Express uses the spelling checker provided with the following Microsoft Office programs: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint. If you do not have one of these programs installed, the Spelling command is not available."

| Chuck, I don't have any of those programs and my spell checker works.
I did have to go in and turn it on like Mia said.
But a friend of mine has a PC like mine and we couldn't turn it on.

| I download Foxfire and Thunderbird. I do have spell check with It so it does make a difference. Thanks to Tor for all his help via PM. I do notice that Foxfire is quite a bit slower.
