| Lasic Not sure I spelled it right, but next week I'm having the laser surgery on my eyes and was just curious if anyone here has done it, and if so, how's it working out for you?

| I have not had it done, but have 3 close friends that have. All are very happy with the results. All ended up with 20/40 vision and have maintained that. One had the surgery about 8 years ago, the other two 3 years ago.
Best of luck to you Jeff.

My son and daughter had it done, its a piece of cake, in and out, and they love it, no more glasses or contact lenses.
Good Luck |

Good Luck | Now THAT is funny!
I have heard nothing but positive things about the laser surgery.
I am working with progressive lenses so I am not sure if it would eliminated glasses for me.
Good Luck.

| Jeff, my old manager had it done about 5 years ago. he had some minor discomfort and slight blurriness for a couple of weeks afterward as a result of the surgery , but was extremely happy with the results once the recovery was over . Are they aware of what you do for a living ? Would the recovery period have an adverse effect on your driving ability ? Just thinking out loud, I seem to remember my boss having very minor and short-lived issues in that regard.
at any rate, best of luck, I think you will be happy you did it

| I have talked to some scrollers who had it done; it really depends on the type you have. Some versions correct one eye for near sight and the other eye for far sight...they had to re-learn some of the cutting aspect because you really use both eyes (perepherial vision, etc.).
Just a warning...if you come back to scrolling and have some problems, it's not you...it's your eyes!

| Doesn't your eyesight change naturally over time? I've never understood why someone would have laser surgery if their prescription might change a couple of years later. Can anyone explain this, please?

| Most Lasic is done with the understanding that there will be "corrections" over time. And if your perscription is changing often, most practicioners do not consider you a good candidate for the surgery.
I've had the same perscription for nearly 10 years now, and I can still see fine, so the docs tell me I am a good candidate.
Many doctors include the expected "corrections" in the initial fee.

| Part of the new perscriptions isn't the eyes changing either, it's the glasses themselves, they make you're eyes become more lazy and then you have to upgrade. I just want to go to the lake and not lose my glasses like I have done in the past. In the winter they frost up bad when I'm out in the cold and then go into a very damp pet store to deliver. In the hot times of the summer, I sweat and my glasses slide down my nose or get sweat on the lenses when working out there. I can't afford the intralasic, just the basic lasic, so I won't be able to scroll for 7 days due to risk of infection in my eyes from the sawdust. Shouldn't mow the lawn or bale hay, anything like that. Not to lift over 20lbs for a week either, but my work will give me an electric jack for the week. Seems odd the weight restriction, but supposedly lifting stresses the eye muscles !?!?
