Thumbs up Prowler in the house

The strangest thing happened to us last night. We got home from a wedding last nite and retired about 11:00. Around 4 am, my wife wakes me and says there is someone in the house. I was really tired and thought she was dreaming. Then I heard something go bump in the night. Since I couldn't persuade her to get out of bed and investigate, I climbed out and cautiously left the bedroom and turned on our hall light. I then heard someone moving around in the rec room. I called out "who's there?". Out of the room came a young gal wearing a T shirt and underpants, nothing else. And she was a plump one. She asked me who I was and I asked her what she was doing in my house. She said she was supposed to be at the neighbors. My wife then came out and told her she was too intoxicated to leave. She said she had to get to the neighbor's, and she hustled downstairs and out our front door. Before I got back to sleep I figured out how she got in the house. Our rec room is upstairs and has a separate entrance. Nobody uses that door except me and the dog. The stairs to the deck is actually in the dog's pen. In the morning I found a jacket hanging on the dog pen and the gate to the pen had been lifted off it's pins and set up against the fence. I didn't find her pants though. My wife went thru the pockets of the jacket and found her ID card and cell phone. The jacket was completely soaked. This is strange because we haven't had rain for quite awhile. The phone was soaked so it's probably ruined. It won't turn on anyway. Her ID had an address in Omaha, NE. I found the phone # online and called her mother. I just told her I found the jacket and was wondering how to contact her. Her mother didn't seem concerned in the least. She didn't even ask who I was or where I found her jacket. At least I found out she works at the college so I can get her property back to her. She is only 20 years old. I can't wait to see how embarassed she's going to be when she has to face me again. I don't believe she was that wasted, so she'll remember. I'm going to ask her if she found her pants. This is going to be so much fun. BTW, it was only about 43 degrees F. last night. BRRRRR.

A couple people suggested we call the police. However, she would get into so much trouble for unlawful entry, underage drinking and who know what else. I always figure everyone is entitled to one stupid mistake and deserves a second chance. I don't think she'll forget this for awhile, especially after having to confront me again, with clothes on.

Holy cow! If that were me, I would have called the police before getting out of my bedroom! You're very brave to venture out to see who or what was in your house. My alarm went off Thursday morning at 3:40 am. Scared the wits out of me and caused me to wait a good long time with the alarm going off to muster up the courage to go to the living area. Good thing I did because it was only the front door that blew open from the wind. I don't know what I would have done if I heard bumps in the night!

I'M GLAD YOU AND YOUR WIFE ARE OK!!! I do agree that we're allowed one boo boo, but I'm wondering how many times she's done this? Let us know what happens when you confront her. Too bad you can't take a picture of her facial expression! Have fun!

Wow! I also would of call the police & proably a ambulance but I don't think she would of went to far if she did run reason being #1 the dog is not to friendly to strangers #2, I don't usualy miss what I aim at.
It would proably do her some good to spend a night in jail, might open her eyes some

Interesting night Mike, Glad it was what it was, and you and the wife are fine.
My question is, what kind of dog do you have? I guess not one that barks loud enough to alert you when some one doesn't belong. And lucky for the girl one that doesn't eat them alive!

Oh yeah, the watch dog. We have a vicious little lhasa apso. She was sitting in the hallway just hoping for a belly rub. She doesn't make a sound when someone comes. She loves everyone and everyone is suppose to love her. The only thing she barks at is other dogs. I still haven't figured out her purpose in life.

I just got back from returning the girl's jacket to her. She was a bit embarassed and very apologetic. She asked me to aplogize to my wife also. The reason her jacket was soaked was because she fell in the river. We have a river that runs thru about a block from us. Actually, it's more of a creek. She was on her way to her boyfriend's house who lives on S. 4th. We live on N. 4th. Many people have made that mistake, but during the day and they usually ring the doorbell. She has no idea what happened to her pants. Basically, she seems like a nice young lady that made a major error in judgment. All's well that ends well. However, we now make sure all doors are locked when we're gone or asleep. I just don't know how many half naked young ladies I can handle in the middle of the night. I'm not as young as I used to be.

WOW Mike!!! Thank God that didn't happen at my house. Beavis, my Bullmastiff, would have done some serious damage to that young lady. A very pointed reminder for me to ensure my doors are locked at night...just for the safety of someone else who might make a similar mistake. Thanks for sharing that!!!
