Default Washer Boards

On our last fishing get together, Mrs.Trout got addicted to washers and asked if I would make her a set...

the object of the game is to set the boards 6 feet apart and try to throw the washers in the holes for points. the holes are worth 1 to 3 points and the first team to get 21 points wins...if another team covers your washer with theirs you loose those points...

we'll be breaking the game in today at the Mother's Day BBQ....

Sounds like fun,Trout. Are you going to give us more details of how those are made? Looks like those boards are covered with something ...

Do different coloured washers score differently? Or is it the hole that has the score attached to it?

the boards are 4 feet long and 1 foot wide...

and they are covered with indoor/outdoor carpet....

the holes are 4 1/4 inches in diameter...and the washers are 3 1/2 inches in diameter...

you can play single or 2 person teams using the different colored washers..

the catch is that you cannot score over 21 points which gives the other team time catch up...

maybe you can tell but one side has a longer distance from the edge to the hole and thats because you stand on that end of the board as you throw the washers to the other board...the first hole is worth one point, the middle hole is 2 points and the furthest hole is 3 points...

we'll be taking the washer game over to our daughters house later on today for a BBQ and I'll take some pictures on how the game is setup and played..

Really cool Trout, I like this sort of game. We go camping a lot & this will be a good one to keep in the camper. I assume the washers are painted, if so it'll be interesting to see how they hold up. What size are the washers? They look almost as large as the holes.
How does the score board work? Why tow pins of each color?

We used to play something similar when I lived in Ohio. It was called "Corn Hole".

I don't have the exact dimensions of everything, but you threw a corn-filled "bean bag" at a slanted board with a hole in the center. A couple of target circles were drawn around the hole. Depending on where your bag landed on the board, or in the hole you would score points. Kind of like a cross between, horse shoes and that kid's game Toss-Across. I used to be pretty good at it but haven't played in years.

It is refreshing to see, in this hitech computer age that some of the simple timesless games are still surviving.
I swear a person could stay in a room and get everything they needed to survive off the internet, including food delivered to the door.

Thanks for posting the details of construction too trout. Really nice job.

Can I have my wife call your wife? I don't necessarily need my wife to become addicted to washers but it would be nice to get rid of the load of wash in the breezeway so I had clean shorts to wear.

Kinda looks like quoits without the pins. Neat idea for a game for the handicapped kids at church. Hmmmmmmmmm

Default what a fun evening....

the BBQ got a late start so it was a good thing we had the washer game, it kept 12 people entertain for a couple hours....
it didn't take long for everyone to get the hang of the game, even my mother in law who is pushing 70 put up some nice scores....

Mrs.Trout with her new game....

I started off playing the kids so I was able to win the first game....

me and caleb keeping score, he would get so excited when it was his moms turn...

thanks for the nice comments about the boards and if anyone want more details about the dimensions let me know and I'll send them to you...
