Default Would You Like A Drink Of Water?

WATER

#1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
(Likely applies to half the world population.)

#2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak
that it is mistaken for hunger.

#3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as 3%.

#4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs
for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of
Washington study.

#5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

#6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of
water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain
for up to 80% of sufferers.

#7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term
memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on
the computer screen or on a printed page.

#8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of
colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast
cancer by 79%., and one is 50% less likely to develop
bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water
you should drink every day?

COKE

#1. In many states the highway patrol carries
two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from
the highway after a car accident.

#2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke
and it will be gone in two days.

#3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the
toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour,
then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes
stains from vitreous china.

#4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers:
Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds
Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

#5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour
a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble
away the corrosion.

#6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola
to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

#7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into
the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake.
Thirty minutes before ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix
with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

#8... To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke
into the load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run
through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen
grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your
windshield.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION:

#1. the active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid.
It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric
acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major
contributor to the rising increase of osteoporosis.

#2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup! (the concentrate) the
commercial trucks must use a hazardous Material place
cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.

#3. The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean
engines of the trucks for about 20 years!

Now the question is, would you like a glass of water?

or Coke?

Quick! send this helpful info on to your friends

Whew, I'm sure glad those statistics didn't say anything about a nice vodka tonic.

By the way how many ounces of water are there in a standard ice cube?

It is funny, I read water meters for a living, yet I know I do not drink enough water.
For a short time last year I started drinking several litres a day. I did notice a slight weight drop. I wonder if the metabolic rate had increased slightly.
I do not take enough liquids in a day.
Today I had 4 cups of coffee, one Ginger Ale and a glass of coke. Hmmmmm
I am really thirsty LMAO
I never sat down and thought about it before.

Thanks William, I am off to get a glass of water or two.

Carl, you probably made yourself more dehydrated by drinking all that coffee, salt and sugar! And be careful, everyone. Too much water can kill you, especially if you don't empty your bladder. Autopsy Finds Signs of Water Intoxication. That poor woman didn't know any better and wound up dead.

I remember back when my children were toddlers and would love to swim in the pool. My #1 rule was if they got "prunes" on their fingers and toes, it was time to get out. So, I asked the pediatrician about getting waterlogged which he did confirm could definitely happen. This is about 12 years ago and when I heard the story about that woman, it made me think about that as well as the so called common rule of drinking 8 8 oz. glasses of water a day. I always thought it was excessive, so I usually drink about half of that, which the doctor also confirmed was OK since we get lots of fluid from other foods we eat. Although grease from McDs doesn't count toward fluid intake

Some reason or other I got thirsty reading those facts. Time for a glass of water. Now it is time for someone to come up with all the problems and stuff found in water

There are actually lots of articles about that.
I live on a mountain so there is no town or city water here. Our water comes from a huge spring about 6 kilometers up the mountain right behind me . Sometimes it tests 100% pure and other times it doesn't so we have our own distiller for all of our drinking and cooking water. Can't get much purer water than distilled. Even a lot of the bottled waters are just ordinary tap water run through reverse osmosis and some have been tested as inadaequate health wise.

At least a couple of those "facts" are nothing more than urban myths. It makes me wonder about accuracy of the others. I wonder what the source is for this information??

I drink both. One coffee, one coke and a couple bottles of water per day. The coke info is great, but most of it is myth and not fact. There was an entire episode of mythbusters based on coke. It will not disolve a steak in 2 days. Even after a few weeks, the steak style exists, it's not even moistened, but it sure is rank and rotten. It won't dissolve a nail, although it might if you let it sit for years in a glass. It does clean rust and battery terminals fairly good, but not near as good as products designed for that purpose. There is no difference in cleaning clothes with detergents and adding coke to the mix. It will not bake a ham either, even after months of sitting, the ham will also simply rot. They never could find a patrol car with a case of coke in the trunk. The distributors would not dare clean the engines of the trucks with coke, it's too sticky, too costly and not nearly as effective as a good engine degreaser. Every one of your statements was tested and many many more, but they are all myths, although you do need a placard to haul some of the ingredients in coke. One thing that was proven by adam and jamie, because they love explosions, you can make a very awesome volcano for your highschool science class with coke as the base substance.
Nothing personal, I love the myths about coke, they are very entertaining, but there is absolutely no fact in them.

Supposedly, and I don't know this to be a fact, but Mountain Dew is supposed to be the number one cause of tooth decay. Apparently the amount of sugar far surpasses any other soft drink. I think there is a corralation between that and the fact that most mountain dew drinkers are like smokers, they chain drink the stuff. I have noticed alot of people that drink that stuff have the whole back seat full of empties all the time.

I'll take a "Jolt" cola anyday.....all the sugar and twice the caffeine!
I have cut down on my coffee in the morning, but I still drink at least a half gallon on iced tea every evening, more in the summer.
