I'd take it as a compliment Grizz. I've never had the words Master Piece associated with anything I've done. If someone said I even came close I'd be honored. I've had people seem enthusiastic but from what I'm reading between the lines, I'd say this gentlemans enthusiasm carries more weight than my friends and neighbors. Of course, "pro's" can always find flaws and perhaps his "just short of" is merely a reflection of his preferences. Your work is always good ... to have someone like this emphasize that, a real compliment. Good on 'ya!

I would love for someone to tell me that also. It's just half a level below MichaelAngelo. I had someone come to a fair that I did last year and he looked at my little pigs and asked:" is that a Winfield Collection pattern?" I told him yes and he added:"they came out very nice"
I was happy to hear that and even more happy when I found out that this person does big shows and is a great woodworker himself.
Take in all the glory that you can. It feels great.

Grizz, I have had people ask me if my cuttings were done with a laser. Had to think about that remark and then I decided that it really was a compliment.

Well, since nobody is perfect- coming from a woodworker, i would take that as the highest of compliments.

Whatever we do (scrolling, painting, stuff at work) I think the highest tribune one of us can receive is one given by a person that does the same kind of work. Especially one that we consider a "pro" or more skilled them ourselves. After all who would know better the work that went into it. I would be very honored for someone considering my job in the same way one would consider a master piece.
