Larch Firewood

Went to the mill sorting yard after lunch today and really lucked out . It is only about ten miles from home . They were putting some logs of larch on the pile which is much better than the regular fir or pine that I normally have access to. This load only cost me ten dollars. Only takes about an hour to chainsaw it from logs into stove lengths like this because it is so easy to get at. Much easier than going 6 or 8 miles up the logging roads on the mountain tops for for firewood like I used to.
To have larch firewood delivered in this area it is always a minimum of $175.00 cord
Now to go and pile it . . . . . .

$10 !!!!! Wow that is definitely a bargain! Most of the wood they sell round here for firewood is maple and birch - always seems like a terrible waste to me ..

Speaking of burning wood. I work at a powerhouse at a university here in central michigan and we burn around 250 tons of wood a day in our boiler. Most of it is hard wood. By burning wood instead of gas we are saving the university around a million a year in fuel cost. At times I sure wish I had that wood to make my own saw dust.
