Default Easter Thoughts

I'm sitting in the recliner watching it snow, realizing that this time next week I will be packing and getting ready to head back to California..Toni's working on some fretwork patterns and we're talking about a a number of issues, concerns, plans and patterns, currrent trends, what we've read on this forum, and of course the pending visit by the Easter Bunny..
I was taken aback yesterday..I got in the car to go to the store..it was a few minutes past 2pm..EVERYTHING..including WalMart was closed..I got confused LOL..this doesn't happen in California..and I understand that stores will be open tomorrow..I have to shake my head on this one..somehow it doesn't seem logical at all.. once again I'm feeling a bit of culture shock and enjoying every minute as it makes for some lively conversations about religion and government and shopping
I consider myself spiritual, not religious..I have some beliefs that work for me and that I'm comfortable with..tomorrow will be a fun day for the kids, I will eat chocolate eggs and again question how Easter came to be so far removed from the original intent.. and I will play in the shop and try to finish some projects and smile knowing that I am surrounded by family, good company and conversation, I will give thanks as I anticipate a delicious dinner, know that the kids will be on a bit of a sugar high and hyper and I will know, from this, that I am blessed.
So, I was wondering what others are doing on this Easter weekend?
Enjoy!

Tomorrow, Easter Sunday, my 2 daughters and their husbands and my mother will be spending the day with my wife and I. It will also be the first Easter for my grandson, who is a little young for candy. We will be attending church and after that enjoying a turkey dinner with good conversation and enjoying the little one's antics. I also feel blessed to be able to enjoy the whole family together on such a righteous day.

"again question how Easter came to be so far removed from the original intent"
Unfortunately, it's happened to every holiday.
I'll be up at my usual 3:00 a.m. surfing the web, (Checking my lottery numbers first), watching the sunrise and reflecting on the meaning of Easter, then I'll be making an Almond nutroll and a blueberry cobbler to take to a brunch at my sister's house. After that I'm coming home and if it's not too cold, I may go into the shop.
Happy Easter to everyone, however you spend the day.

Great thread Sue!

Easter has already begun for us. We just got back from our annual Easter Egg Hunt at church where we had over 150 kids PLUS the kids hat attend our church. Each kid had their picture taken with the Easter bunny. Prizes were handed out and every family went home with a wooden Easter Cube.

Tonight we go back to the church where one of our members is having his retirement party. Over 30 years delivering mail....he deserves a bunch!

Tomorrow will be a big Easter breakfast at church, then service, then a one hour drive north to enjoy dinner with my brothers family.

Happy Easter to all.

This Easter is a special one, not for the religious side, but for other reasons.
Today is our 28th anniversary. for the life of me I don't know how she can tolerate me for that many years.
We tried to get married one week later but that put us in the Easter weekend so the church wouldn't do it.
I wanted to be a year older before I got married and since my birthday is just around the corner, that was the master plan.

We have a week off right now and we plan on going to Vancouver island for a couple of days to visit my ailing mum. She is doing much better this week and I want to take that opportunity to visit.

I think this is the first year ever that we did not buy Easter chocolate, much to the chagrin of my wife.
I just don't think children in their 20s, really need the Easter bunny to hop on over and hide eggs. Hopefully sometime in the future, once our kids get involved with spouses we will have grand children to spoil.

I do hope we have ham and peas with a cream sauce on Sunday but that will depend on how tired we are from our anniversary celebrations.
I wish everyone a happy season, no matter what your background is. Let peace and hope fill your heart and soul and enjoy all the good things life has to offer.

I shall be in Slade Prison, contending with Norman Stanley Fletcher.

In a manner of speaking .
