Default The Talent

I have spent my time here the last couple days looking at many of the scroller galleries. I am sure I have many many more to look at but I wanted to draw your attention to the fantastic talent we have here.

For those who post the photos, please be sure to tell us a little about them. For example, check out BAIntarsia's Hot Rod and if you are at all like me, you will wonder what the story is behind it. I think that piece is priceless.

Then you have work done by Jim Sawyer who has mastered (inlay) cutting on a bevel and removing a kerf. His attention to detail hasn't been lost in his cutting... simply wonderful. Jim gives us a little idea of how he made his work and I am sure he will inspire some others to try something similar.

I am amazed by the skill many have and acknowledge I have much much to learn. Take a trip through the galleries and check them out regularly.

Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts should be proud, you've raised a fine bunch of scrollers!

Toni: For me the reason I am so talented is I have such a wonderful group of pattern designers, such as you and Sue, to draw from and a wonderful magazine, Scroll Saw, that we can draw on for information and help. People tell me that I am a talented wood artist. I say, "no I'm not. I just follow the lines the designers are the true talents." Without people like you and Sue I would not be able to do what I do as I can't draw a picture worth a darn!!! I can intrepret your pattern as to woods and what I want it to "say" but without designers I wouldn't have a business. so THANK YOU and everyone of you who draw such wonderful patterns for me to use. You're the talent I'm the interpreter.

Betty

Ah shucks.... thanks Betty and Fred. (hmmmm, no I won't go there, besides it was Barney and Betty, Fred and Wilma)

However, I hope after you posted (and thank you for your kind words) that you went to the scroller galleries and took a look around. I've often thought, if I could shop on our scroller galleries, what projects I'd buy?

Recently, I've found a more than a few.

Take care
Toni

I have always found that most people get better when challenged. I am fortunate that I belong to a local scrolling club filled with amazing talent. Ever time I think I have done something exceptional someone else brings in a project even more amazing making me want to kick it up another notch.
The work presented on this forum does the same thing. But the big plus here are the freely exchanged ideas and techniques given by the wizards.
And as Betty said most of us would be floundering without innovative designs presented by artist like yourself and Sue.
While I am on a roll here , Whomever had the idea at Fox Chapel to start this forum A Really Big !!

Aw...we were just at the right place at the right time...nothing special...

If it weren't for the scrollers and designers alike...this would have never happened!

Good post Rolf, well said! This is a true community and BobD is being too modest!

I know of a few other scrollsaw forums.......NONE hold a candle to this group!

I agree with everyone here, great job to everyone in this community so rich in talent and resource. I'm never disappointed with the information and participation of people. I especially love the support everyone gives each other threw good and bad times.
