| 4 weeks! I placed an order with Harbour Freight yesterday and I recieved and email notification today that my order had shipped and should be here in 4 WEEKS!
Man this is Alaska...part of the USA not Blue Lizard Giblets, Sri Lanka. Not to mention they gave me a flipping shipping cost that would suggest I was living on the moon that required NASA delivery.
This is my first order with these folks and I know others have used them, is this the standard for these folks or am I dealing with a rare occasion. Keep in mind my "freight" weight was less than 7 pounds.
I'm hotter than a pistol but I have a whole month to cool down I guess. Maybe I should order a punching bag to vent upon.

| WHOA!!!!
I didn't have that kind of luck when I ordered from them. Call them up and complain. If you ordered what I think you ordered, it may fit in a $8.10 USPS Flat Rate box! Or ask for volunteers on this board from "America" to receive and reship it.
Man, that su....blo......uh...stinks!! |

I've never ordered from them. Hate to tell you this but, I live a few miles from a Harbor Freight Store. They've been great to me. I get much of my compression tools from them. Just picked up a pin nailer (23 gauge) and I love it. | |

| Todd,
I used to buy from them all the time and shipping used to be FREE.
I guess it has been a while.

| I've had decent luck with HF orders....but not blindingly fast. A week to ten days is probably average and I live in a big city. Lots of places on the Internet indicate that shipping to Hawaii or Alaska will be slower.....don't know exactly why. If you are getting something that has to go by surface transportation and live in a smaller hamlet out in the country, I can understand why there might be a delay. Maybe they are offering a conservative estimate to cover their butts and the order will actually arrive earlier under "normal" circumstances?? You could always give them a call and ask for an explanation....they do have an 800 number. Good luck!! |

| I'd cancel the order but it is already in route via the South Pole, I believe the Tibetan Sherpa's perfer taking that route when going to Alaska with a 7 pound box. Seeing how I am leaving for Alabama on Saturday for a week maybe I can find a good woodworking supply store down there and just buy what I need.
And yes I will give them a call today and find out what the disconnect was, I owe them that much if I am going to bad mouth them.

| Its to bad, you could have had it delivered to AL wherever your going, and you certainly could have found a space to haul back your order (guessing turning tools)yourself. If you ever need it, I could be a reshipper for you, Ive done it a number of times with a couple others on the board. Dale |

| Should have maybe bought from woodcraft. I don't know what brand you bought, I know chisels and stuff aren't cheap if they are even half decent in quality. I have never bought from Harbor Freight, I do get their catalogue all the time though. I saw they have a store up in town and decided to stop in and check them out. I noticed alot of rusty no-name tools in their, especially their jointers and tablesaws..and I do mean rusty! I don't know that all their stores or products are like that...but it sure didn't leave a good taste in my mouth..if they treat their tools like that, what will they do to mine??? I thought the prices where a bit high too, considering they had alot of hand tools that I can get from the japaneese made dollar store on the corner...I love those screwdrivers that the end of the driver turns right off ...that's some quality steel !
I know that a good chisel is $100 or more...but I picked up a set of 5 bowl chisels for $125 at woodcraft ...you can make pens with those too, and they are pretty decent quality. You can always return the harbor stuff...unless you dont want to. I bought the little pen chisel set too for $15 ...it's junk chisels, and they are very small, but they do work good for adding small details to a bowl, spindle, or pen...I wouldn't use them to do the bulk of the work though. You'll soon discover, sharpness factor and length of time to hold sharpness is a very big deal.

| I ordered some goodies from Woodcraft as well Jeff and guess what...it arrived today minus a tool that was on back order. I have one person to blame...no two people to blame for my Harbour frieght order, Barry!!! lol
Anyhow I did find a decent set of micro tools today for my lathe so I am in business though I think I liked the control of the larger tools. Either way, I'm making more saw dust and a lesson has been learned. As with all things you must learn who provides good service and who does not.
