| What a wonderful insight into the design process of a layered pattern. Thank you.

| Very nice, Susan - and interesting to read about the process.
I have a couple of questions for you, or anyone else who has done layered designs.
When the layers are assembled, are spacers users between the layers to increase/enhance the 3D effect?
And ... how do you frame pieces like these?

| You could add spacers, Ian, or just use different thicknesses of wood. I've done a few in 1/8" BB and just put them all together...
As far as framing...I use a shadow box style of frame...

| Anyone come up with that simple shadow box design yet ?
It's not finished, nor is it " finished " , but I decided to share it since I can't fool with it again until the weekend It's just propped up for now with a piece of felt behind it
What a fun project this was ! thanx Susan !
Back layer is cherry ply, middle is red oak ply, front is BB . #3 FDSR, One dip each of BLO
I want to dip the cherry at least once more to make it even darker layerscape.JPG
