Default Intarsia Sun/Moon

My wife likes suns and moons like so many women do. I found this picture on a free tatoo pattern site. It is not a very difficult picture to make, although it has a few challenges in it. It is 39 pieces or 61 pieces, depending on how the teeth are done. I'm planning to cut out each tooth of course. I have it blown up at 10 inches wide. I can't work in the shop today, but I was able to cut the eyes out this morning. I'll be able to get into it next week. Feel free to grab and print it out...free pattern here for anyone interested.

Very nice design.

We have been working on some similar designs but haven't gotten to finishing them. This is good timing that you post this Jeff, since we have a customer who would probably love to see a couple of these in her store.

Thanks.
Take care
Toni

Default Derivative of the Original

Jeff, I've been looking around on some of our inspirational resources and would like to know the site you found the original on.

I am very cautious when it comes to copyright since even clipart is copyright protected ... and although you made changes, I'd be interested to see just what was changed from the original - or is the coloured version on the right the original?

I will let this one be, and wait till our design is done before approaching the store owner I talked about previously.

Take care
Toni

the photo is the original. I haven't built the picture yet, but I will start it next week. Should only take me a few days to build one, which is a few weeks in reality time with work and all. It said it was free designs, but I'll try and find the site it came from.

I can't for the life of me figure out what I was doing when I stumbled upon this picture. I've searched and searched. guess that's a lesson to bookmark a cool page. I'm still building it anyhow. Besides, I'm building one, and it's for my wife, and it won't be exactly like the photo because it's wood not ink. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. I need something to do while I'm figuring out how to design the project that I really want to make.
If you've got something better, maybe I'll give that a shot too.

Default Some compromises are not worth it

"Besides, I'm building one, and it's for my wife, and it won't be exactly like the photo because it's wood not ink. That's my story and I'm sticking to it."

Sigh. This is open to interpretation isn't it? In your first post here on this thread, are you sure you did not give others permission that wasn't your's to give?? "Feel free to grab and print it out...free pattern here for anyone interested."

Jeff, you have shown us some fantastic work and have mentioned how you'd like have some articles (projects even perhaps) published. Personally, I'd love to see you prosper in the scrolling community but worry regarding how badly you may really want this dream to become reality. Please be very careful. You are very talented and I am sure there are scrollers who will follow your lead.

Simply saying "It said it was free designs ..." isn't always enough.
Make sure you have it in writing from the original artist, and give credit to the image and creator that inspired you work. It's not only good karma, it's about integrity - and you will go far with it.

We (Sue and I) just acquired the permissions of an artist who is featured in some mainstream magazines to use his artwork in creating patterns. Sue is very fond of his style and was extremely happy to have made these arrangements with him ... I don't even know his name, but that he works with celebrities....

You talked about another project, and figuring out the design of it... if there is anything I can do to help, please feel free to PM. I was thrilled to see your photo as a winner in one of the scrolling competitions, and look forward to seeing more of YOUR designs. Please be careful.

Some may wonder, why I didn't just PM you with this, and it was a thought. However, we see this sort of topic often and I realize there were many who viewed this thread, perhaps taking you up on your pattern offer... so it is relevant to them as well.

Take care
Toni

Usually I sit down and design my own stuff. I was looking around at something and stumbled on this site. It definitely said it was free, but now I don't know where the site was, and what it's free to do what with. I guess I got a bit carried away and figured this would be great to keep my busy while planning my next project. You make a great point tony, and I'd like to take it all back, delete the entire thread if I could, but I don't know how.
