| oops...I made a big mistake. A Newfy pee's in the wind to take a shower. A Newfy sits in a puddle and farts for a bubble bath.
Don't know how I made that mistake. I know so many Newfy jokes it's rediculous.

| The wife and I went to Ottawa last year and when we ate we noticed that most things had some sugar in them.. like Ketsup.. it was really sweet.
Is that normal?

| It seems to be normal for most food conglomerates to load their products with sugar nowadays to make them palateable. Do you remember the ruckus a couple of years ago when the film "Supersize Me" was released? Another trick that manufacturers employ is to pump their products with water, especially meat. It's no wonder that often we don't feel satisfied after eating a reasonably portioned meal - you need more than sugar and water to keep you going.
As part of the course my partner is studying, he took a burger from a well-known international burger chain which was to be incinerated in a laboratory to find out how many calories it contained. They couldn't ignite the burger because it contained so much water!
I'm very aware of the health risks of not knowing what goes into your food so I source all my ingredients from known and trusted suppliers. Rather than buy processed meat, I make my own burgers, sausages and bacon. They take a little time to produce but they work out much cheaper and the flavor is vastly superior to anything that's available commercially.
Anyway, this is conversation has veered way off topic. If anyone wants to continue discussing foodstuffs I'll happily split the thread.
Gill

Gill | Aw come on, Gill can't you see the relevance of seagulls, Newfie jokes and sugar in Canadian food to lighthouse patterns? No onés even mentioned cod sounds or seal flipper pie yet

| Jeff Zaffino has a lighthouse and Tom Mullane has a Cape Hatteras lighthouse as well. Both are availible at Scroller Ltd. and probably their personal sites and Wooden Teddybear also. I've done several Cape Hatteras' and everybody loves'em. |
