I know I am going to catch heck from someone about all the cuts in this pattern, but isn't it cool?? I started to make it a portrait type pattern but after I started I thought how great this would look cut at about 11 x 14 and hung as a wall decoration. Even 8 1/2 X 11 or 8 X 10 would look good. I think the cuts can be done in as small as 8 x 10. I'll find out soon. I hope someone cuts it. I sure would like to see a picture of it. I am going to cut it but I have no idea when I will get to it. Soon, I hope...maybe after I return from Pennsylvania. Have fun and watch those fingers! Bubba

Lots of cuts means lots of sawdust. I think I will use a 2/0 blade for this one and since my printer is limited to 8 1/2 by 11...but who knows. My daughter has a seashore - ocean themed rec room and it will look great there. Thanks for an awesome pattern. george

Hi George, and thanks for the comment. Personally I like a challenge and that is why I chose this subject. I know it is a lot of cuts. One reason for that is that I inverted the image before I began the process of making a pattern. If I hadn't done that then I think the shadows would not have looked right. One thing though...when I look inside the "mouth" I can see where some of those cuts could have been eliminated. In the original image there is actually a spiral flow pulling you into the mouth. I seem to have lost that affect in the pattern. I'm not sure what I can do to get the affect I am looking for but I'll try to clean it up some and re-post. I am posting the original image in the "grayscale" mode. Maybe this will help you eliminate the cuts you feel are not necessary to the overall image. I do that sometimes. I'm also posting another shell that I will be doing sometime in the future, just because Bob says I can. (Thanks Bob!!) Good luck on your project. I'd love to see a picture when you are finished. Bubba

Okay, since this may have been a little intimidating for some, here is an easier version that will be much simpler to cut. I've dragged a no. 5 pencil between all of the cuts that I could without compromising form. Sorry for the confusion. I am just trying to post things that people with different skill levels can cut and enjoy themselves while they are doing it. Bubba

Thanks for the simpler pattern Bubba. I put it in my to do list. I wonder if it might not look better cut at an angle?

I'll work on simplification but as you know sometimes detail is just necessary. Right now I'm working on a sea snail...lots of spirals and swirls and scales, plus the eyes are really cool. LOL Bubba
