This is a pattern I've been working on for a while now. It's of our local church and war memorial. I would just like peoples opinion of it. I plan to cut it sometime and donate it to the church. What I need to know is, is it cuttable or have I bitten off too much. It's not quite finished as I have to sort some floaters out. Mick |

Mick, Anything is cuttable, just a matter of time and patience. I would offer the suggestion that you might consider simplifying the foliage in front of the church and next to the war memorial, so that the architechtural elements stand out better. Also, depending on the overall size on the final image, maybe even simplify the ashlar on the church tower. ---------- Bruce P. |

![]() Great looking pattern Mick, I can see as much time going into designing as cutting.

WHOA!!!! There must be 3 days worth of hole drilling in that one. Beautiful pattern but way beyond my skill level and patience. I'll grab a copy anyway for my archives. Maybe a year or so down the road or something for retirement. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your comments everyone. I agree about simplifying the foliage Bruce, but I don't want to take too much detail out as it is a wonderful setting. I have posted the original pic. Erssel you are welcome to take a copy. It would be nice to see how it turns out. P.M.me please when you have finished it. John I get almost as much pleasure out of designing as I do out of cutting. Almost lol mick |

Definitely beyond my patience level, but best of luck to everyone that tries. It is a beautiful church and a wonderful pattern.

My guess would be that someone with more patience than I just might pull this one off. I'm not certain, but after viewing the pattern up close and personal, I think many of the holes and lines are smaller than what you can buy blades and indexed bit for. Also, there are numerous floaters in the pattern that will fall out if you cut it as it is. I can only assume your actual pattern is larger and higher resolution? I attached a copy of your pattern after applying a flood fill. All the areas in white will fall out if you cut it as it appears. A rule of thumb I try to follow is if your pattern was done at 300 dpi of resolution, a line of 8 pixels wide would be .02666 inches or the equivelant of a 2 or 2/0 blade and a #70 drill bit. I took the liberty to reduce the file size just to save the upload/download time. It'll give you an indication where the floaters are though. Good luck with this! I'd love to see it cut. Excellent start to the pattern Mick. Andy thanks for the info on the sizing but could you either explain further how you arrived at the numbers or maybe give a formula I could follow to figure out on my own for different resolutions. Thanks Dave |
