I use Elements 4.0 for making patterns. I also use Paint Shop Pro X. My primary tool for pattern making is elements 4.0 and I use Paint Shop Pro X sometimes to clean up a pattern. There many of the expert pattern makers that use PSP X and many of them use Adobe Elements. All of the programs accomplish the same thing...a finished pattern, but for me Elements just makes it easier for me and for some folks PSP is an easier program for them to create a pattern. You all so need a copy of Inkscape for clean up the pattern of a lot of the little grey bits that can drive you crazy when trying to clean up with a paint brush. Inkscape is a free download. Just google for Inscape and you will come up a free download site. Also if you have not discovered the free tutorials for either PSP or Elements, goggle for the tutorials. Several people have the sites where you can down load a copy of the tutorials for the pattern making instructions. Good patterning, remember it just takes a lot of practice, but it is time well spent and very rewarding.
