| I don't know about cutting the pattern, but I've had a couple of the little yella fellas buzzing my sunflowers recently and they are quite enjoyable to watch (fast, too!).
I really like the pic of them sitting still.

| Gaia,
You are so lucky to have the Goldfinches when they are really in color. I live in Texas, I have them all winter when they are rather dull looking. They do start to color just before they return to you. I had over 100 at my feeders last winter.
Your pattern looks great. I wouldn't want to cut the feeder though. There must be about 500 cuts in that thing, quite a challenge. If I feel lucky can I get a copy of it?

| You've got more guts than me Gaia.....pattern making I find very difficult. Love the Finches.....from my observation though the bird on the right will have a difficult time hanging on. If you are keeping the white and cutting the black it looks to me he will fall off at the forward foot and neck area. I could be wrong, and I'm sure the experts will be along soon to help. Post pictures when you complete, will you be using spirals? Eager to see it completed. Love those birds........

| Thank you, I agree that the feeder will be a challenge but I think I got rid of all the floaters in it...I hope.
Mike, feel free to use the pattern. Change as needed....
WD, I also agree that the feet are not quite right but every time I try to make them better I end up making them worse and discard the change. Not sure that I see where the head will come off though...
I can't take credit for the photo. My brother-in-law took this shot as well as a few more that he sent to me to see what I could do with them. He lives in a much more rural area of the state than I do and he gets many more of these lovelies than I do.

| Looks like Finches to me. It's sometimes hard to get birds looking like they should but you've done well. |

| Hi Bobbi, if I could make a suggestion if it were my pattern design I would close the line between the beak and breast on the viewers rt. This is a very involved pattern, but one when completed will be very rewarding I'm sure.

| Bobbi, nice pattern and the post is really a challange. I think you have the feet just about right though; tough to get foreshortening perspective correct.
The only changes I would make would be to the left bird. I think that the eye needs to be emphasized with perhaps the top and bottom right or right side of it left in as wood instead of being completely removed as you now have it. Also, even though the angle is not quite right, I would create some frets to indicate the hood of left birds feeder. Right now it looks like it is just perching, not feeding.
Can't wait to see the finished project. Have fun.

| Gaia,
Thanks for your permission to use your pattern. I need to get a lot better before I try it, but I am getting better.
