Default need input on pattern

I have been working on this pattern in my spare time and this is what I have come up with so far, my biggest problem is the back ground exspecially the top center above the bird I have no idea what to do about it
Attachment 4807 pattern so far
Attachment 4808 original photo

Daryl, looks fine to me just the way it is, anything behind the bird will take away from it. I do see your problem though, looks kind of blank back there. Maybe a small tree or bush in the upper right hand corner to give it some depth. I am not an artist as you can tell.

Maybe just a little horizon line or indication?

Default Birds

Daryl
How about some birds in flight, such as coming in to land? My two cents.

bird portion looks pretty good. I'm guessing all the black that looks like spray paint will be removed. I think just the bird and several dozen strakes of grass is all you need. If you desire more, a few clouds with the sun attempting to break through followed up with a few rays from the sun may be nice, but that would square the picture up more because you'd need more height. I'd stick with bird in grass.

I'm with Jeff. Stick with the bird and the grass. Thats what is in the original pic and I am afraid that adding anything wood look to artificial.

Daryl,
Got another Idea. Use a backer with a heavy horizontal grain pattern at the top. Just an Idea.

Thumbs up

Sometimes less is more Daryl. In my opinion, more background would just clutter the composition up. I think you have a great pattern in the works there. I'd just refine what you have and go with that. Looks great!!!
