Neal quality is bad because you enlarged it too much. You can see how you streched the screen out to read your post.

John T....What are the dimensions of the picture in tour attachment in inches. The attachment I posted was about 5" x 7" when I uploaded it.

Neil,

Don't give up yet... What are the exact error messages you are receiving when uploading? In addition, let me know your Operating system and Browser.

Thanks,
Rob

Default Error message

Rob... error message is as follows: Fatal Error: allowed memory size of 25165824 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 9320 bytes) in /www/scrollsawer.com/htdocs/gallery/image-inc.php on line 84. My operating system is Windows XP and I am using MSN Explorer. The last file I tried to upload was well within memory / pixel limitations. Hope this helps. I'm about ready to "deep six" this frustrating piece of electronic wizardry. (spelled @#^*)!!!!

Neal

Right click on the picture and then go down to properties and click on that and it will tell you the size of the picture. I was getting the same error messages not that long ago and Rob was able to fix it. So Rob do the same thing you did for me to Neals problem. Neal, do you think he is listening??

Thank you for posting the error message. I researched and there is nothing wrong on your end or with the gallery software. However sometimes PHP experiences problems determining the size of some images. I found a work around which I implemented before when jt was experiencing difficulties. Essentially, I added some code to force the images into memory to determine the correct size of the image. Please try to post your image again. If you still receive an error message please post it here so I can research further. Thank you for your patience and as JT said we would love to see your work.

Default Another try

Rob...tried again and got essentially the same message; however, the numbers changed to 33554432 bytes and 2330 bytes respectively. I use HP director to upload my pix. from the camera to my computer and to manipulate the pictures, ie crop, resize etc. Do you suppose there is a disparity between the way HP director handles the pictures and the upload software?? Also when I reduce the size of any pic. the quality really goes south!! It becomes more pixellated ( if that is the correct term ) to the point that colors merge into little squares and the definition of the lines gets fuzzy. The dimensions of my last upload attempt were: 2.35" / 704 pixels on the short side and 3.14" / 941 pixels on the long side. 300 DPI total and 1,987.39 kbytes or right at 2 meg. Also I am able to attach pictures to a post but they look bad due to resizing as I noted above. I really appreciate all your efforts with this. I noticed your last post was late last night!!! Don't lose any sleep...If I'm the only one having problems It isn't worth the effort!!!
