Just seeing if this issue is affecting all of the boards or just the new patterns board. I've been trying to start a thread there and keep getting a database error.

Hi Claudio, It was a general database error right at around 4:30PM Eastern time. I'm going to go try again now to see if it still happens to me (I had tried several times but it was only the new pattern board that gave me the error). And no John, that wasn't the problem, hehehehe.

Kevin, Delete the (SELECT ...); from your post - it's a huge security risk. The actual error "MySQL Error : MySQL server has gone away" means that either: 1) Is that the server timed out and closed the connection 2) Youu have issued a "close" on your MySQL connection and then tried to run a query on the closed connection. 3) You can also get these errors if you send a query to the server that is incorrect or too large. If the server gets a packet that is too large or out of order, it assumes that something has gone wrong with the client and closes the connection.

Thanks for the heads-up Big Red. As to the rest of it, I'm not sure what you mean, hehehe. It's happening to me on 2 different computers, one on a T3 line running IE 6 and one on a cable modem running IE 7.

Kevin, it has nothing to do with the computer you're using but with the computer hosting the website. Basically if you're trying to upload a big image the computer turns that into bits (0s and 1s) to send over the line. This is a huge amount of information (tecnically refered to as a BLOB - Binary Large Object) so the recieving computer could possibly think that there is a mistake and disconnect itself. The fix would be not to put the pictures in the MySQL database (which I can only assume is happening) and only store a pointer to the pattern while the pattern itself is outside the database.

There's no pics, it's just a relatively short text message with PD resources.
