    Woodie,

You were indeed lucky to have two experts to share their experience with you. I have been trying to learn on my own with books and trial and error. I have a few small furniture projects that I'm willing to show friends, but have not tackled anything major. (I have also generated a lot of kindling).

I find it interesting that I too have had a band saw for about 10 years and have been afraid of failing at re-sawing. Your info has helped me get my courage up to give it a try. So thanks again.

    Too Dusty:

I had the VERY good fortune to have two wood worker friends that gave me a fantastic amount of help and advice when I was getting started and still do.

The first was a man who sold me his old table saw, overhauled it and delivered it. He visited from time to time and pointed out those things I was doing wrong and why they were wrong. His workmanship was fantastic.

The second man is a professional master furniture builder [retired] who among other things used to build displays for our museum. His quality of work was also super great.

I am not nearly as good as these men and no doubt will ever be.

I hope to pass along anything I have learned as repayment to those two good guys. So I am happy to pass along anything I have learned.

I am just repeating what I was taught, read of or learned along the way. Nothing I can take credit for as an inventer.

    Woodie,

I just wanted to thank you for your in-depth response to my questions about resawing. It was really helpful.

I also appreciated hearing of your project with the maple tree. I'm sure your daughter will be thrilled with the coffee table!! It's a terrific story that put a smile on my face. Thanks for sharing it!!

    Bob
