Sometimes I think my head is up where it shouldn't be. Neal Moore, a scholar and a gentleman in my book, just e-mailed me this elegant, simple, perfect solution. Neal asked why we didn't consolidat ALL of the jokes in one thread. It'll stay near the top because people will be adding to it all of the time, and then it's not cluttering up the New Posts when people click on that. Actually...let's make it two threads...one for most jokes, and the other for John B's Monday morning jokes. What say you all? Bob

I say, Leave John B alone, There has never been anything offensive about his Monday morning threads. Do what you want with the rest of the jokes, just leave John alone. Marsha

Neal is my WV buddy, however I strongly disagree with him, and you, on this one. Strong message to follow at a later date when I cool off. Why do you want to fix something that isn't broke with a bunch of new rules and constraints? We have enough of them already. I seem to be the problem for you and the others who don't want any humor or jokes on this forum. Well, I am no longer any problem since there won't be any more jokes or humor coming from this end. As a few of you want, its strictly scrolling for my future posts. Chase

Well Chase...I'm sure you can see my position...it doesn't matter what I do, people are going to disagree. I've got to just do what I think is right for the message board at large, and take my lumps as they come. I would invite you to send me a private message when you decide to send the stronger message. Bob

Hey Chase...remember the old military adage, "you can please SOME of the people ALL of the time and ALL of the people SOME of the time but you can't please ALL of the people ALL of the time"? That solution was just my attempt to try and please All of the people...<GRIN> BTW, do you know the biggest scenic attraction in Virginia? You can look across the border and see West Virginia!!!

Bob, I know I'm relatively new around here and see that you're in a no win situation. If I understand the proposal, jokes would be placed in an area for those that want to see them (I know I do and have enjoyed them, life is to short to get overly offended by a joke) and not clog up the new posts. My opinion is that it is a good compromise as those that want to see them go them and those that don't won't have to bothered. my two cents, jowshu

Let me paraphrase. All jokes would be posted to one thread in the off topic area called "Jokes". Then there is no doubt what the thread is about, it only takes up one thread when you click on the New Posts link, and you can find the jokes quickly and easily if you want to share them with someone else. Bob

Go for it Bob, and the sooner the better. I have just realised I have read more of this than of scrolling today, not good! Sue |
