Default Inlaid Tsunami Clock

I made this on a whim. I found an interesting image in some clip art gallery and, as usual, I saw an inlay.
11 1/2" high X 10 1/2" wide.
Woods used, aspen, basswood, mahogany, poplar, and satinwood.
Ocean Clock.jpg
As always, comments and critique are welcome.

Another beauty, Jim!

How many pieces do you stack at a time when you inlay? Do you mount them to a backing at all, or just glue them edge to edge?

Hey Shawn,
I'm glad I've peaked your interest... Review issue 34 and...Go for it!!!
I can only inlay one type of wood at a time, (well, two if you count the piece you're inlaying into).
No backer is needed. They're edge glued, and the fact that they fit so snug helps to keep the integrity of the wood.
Hope this helps

Just dug up Issue 34 and found you on page 28. Definitely an article I'll be reading again. I just experimented with inlay on my last jigsaw puzzle (in the puzzle forum). Definitely a fun technique and worth delving into some more with other projects. Thanks!

Another awesome inlay project Jim. You really make inlaying look easy with the number of project you do. This one is really very cool. Thanks for sharing.
