Default A really good week

This week started out pretty scarily, but ended very well. A few weeks ago my wife's oncologist saw something odd on her sonogram and wanted to take a closer look. She had surgery to check it out on Thursday, and it went really well. It turned out to be a benign cyst, and the doc easily cleaned it out. The anesthesiologist managed to figure out how to knock her out without causing massive nausea. Her recovery has been astonishingly quick.

Saturday evening was the local Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society. We were very happy that she was able to walk the survivor's lap from the back of the pack with the 10+ year survivors (where one wants to be) rather than at the front of the pack with those currently fighting.

The organizers offered a golfcart so she didn't have to walk it two days after surgery, but Ms. Iron Will turned it down so she could hoof it. She managed two more full laps later in the day.

To honor her, I made the attached pin. Teal is for Ovarian Cancer Awareness.

It's also a bunch of firsts for me:
First original design, first shaped piece, first finished piece. The backing was the first stack cutting (there are two other test ribbons as well).

I'm pretty pleased with myself for it. I'm incredibly pleased with her

I sure hope she can kick that in the rear! Nice job on the ribbon, I'm impressed.

Very good Arcy, my wife is also a cancer survivior. Any chance for a copy of the pattern?

Arcy,

Very glad to hear that your wife is ok, it is sad to me that people have to have this kind of drama in their lives, but I guess the silver lining is that it makes us stronger and proves to us that we are able to overcome the challanges of life.

Best wishes to you both...

Great cutting...looks like a tough one for the first...

Thanks all for the well wishes. You can never know how strong you are until you're tested, but now we know and I've told her she can stop with the testing

Sure. I'll see if I can convert it into a shareable format tonight.
