Default PA Scrollabration

First I'd like to thank Mike & Lois Freitag and Tri-county Scrollers for a great show! The attendance seemed to be good and everyone had a good time. I met a lot of great people and really enjoyed my first scroll saw picnic. I was fortunate enough to be able to demo at the show and the interest in the demos surprised me. I demo at most of my Craft Shows and it generates interest, I think because most people don't know much about scroll saws, but when people who KNOW what it's all about stop and watch and ask questions it really means a lot to me. I hope I helped some people with their scrolling. Thanks to all the people who watched and complimented me at the show.

Now the bragging part. Sue and Toni's (ChrestensenBurghoutDesign) "New Day Challenge 2008" won me first place in the open division......there was no inlay division in the contest. One of my 3D butterfly puzzles won third place in the same division....again no puzzle division.
Thanks for looking.

Great work, well deserved ribbons!! I hope to go to a scrollsaw event like that someday, living on the west coast there aren't too many opportunities.

Hey Dave! I didn't know you got ribbons for those. Both were terrific but the inlay piece is simply amazing "live." Congrats buddy!

First off, congrats on the ribbons, you sure do fine work. I'm glad the show was a success.

So what the heck, why are we out west cheated out of get togethers like this one? I live in New Mexico and only hear of how the rest of you enjoy these things. I think jealousy is one of the 7 fatal sins? Well it is all your fault, or maybe it is ours for not getting something together...

Time for us to get something organized out here in the wild wild west.

Dave, did you use the double bevel technique on the 1st Day marquetry piece?

Tom,
The shows are put on purely by the local clubs. From talking to the folks that put these together, it is a tremendous amount of work and I for one and very thankful to those brave enough to tackle this endeavor. The SAW expo is put on every couple of years I think and that's the only one I'm aware of that isn't put on by a specific local club but it does appear those have also always been eastish as well. I know the WTB used to put one on in Oregon but they've stopped as from what I know they were having a tough time getting vendors from back east to attend due to the cost. I know there's a fairly large club in the San Bernardino area, perhaps they could be approached about putting on a show.

Thanks everyone, but the thing to remember is that without Sue & Toni's pattern I would not have cut this unique type of "modern" scroll work. I must admit when I first saw the pattern back in January it threw me a little. But.........a challenge such as this is a great way to test yourself.
Thanks again Toni and Sue!

Chase
Yes the inlay is cut using the double bevel method.
