I have started a JGR pattern called "New Shoes" My question is has anyone on this forum completed this pattern? There appears to be a lot of sanding and shaping in this project. I hope I have not bitten off more than I can chew. Many of you replied to my question that I posted about scrolling table sitting or standing. Well I built the table Saturday and put it to work yesterday----sitting. What a pleasure that was. Now I just have to get that switch mounted next to me knee and get use to using that foot pedal. Thanks again to all!! You guys and gals are great!

Glad the table worked out for you...It is so much more fun when you can be comfortable when cutting.

I haven't done that one myself, but I would call that a fairly advanced project. It's 187 pieces. Take you time, and post pictures. Ray

It's definitely on my to do list but it hasn't worked its way to the top of the stack. Keep us posted as you progress.

Well - that is the pattern that made me fall in love with intarsia. I hired a man with 5 years of experience doing intarsia to do it for me. That was before I started doing intarsia. He made it flat - no shaping. I didn't know any better and I do love it - he did a great job of cutting and fitting. I then had a plaque made dedicating it to all the little boys in my life - my sons and grandsons. Maybe someday I'll make it for myself and shape it. Good luck with it - it's a beautiful piece. Keep us posted with works in progress pictures.

Leonard, Thank you for what you said. I have a foot switch and could not live without it and I stand while I scroll and my legs are taking a beating. I was thinking about redoing my shop but could not figure how to use the foot pedal while sitting that would not keep hurting my leg. You just gave me the idea to mount it sideways and use my knee. That sounds like a great idea and I sure hope it will work out and be comfortable. Otherwise, back to standing. Thanks again Jackie |

Leonard, I have seen the new shoes pattern completed and it does look like a lot of shaping and sanding but it is so beautiful and worth the time and effort. Just take your time. What I do is have a photo of the finished piece with me and keep looking at it to get the ideas of what to shape and how, and what to lower and what to raise. Hope this helps. Jackie |

Have been on Vacation of late and just got home yesterday. Downloaded my vacation pictures----- while I was at it took shots on where I stand with this project. Lots of shaping yet! Lots of sanding yet! Lots of shims yet! Overall I am fairly pleased. I still have his right hand and fingers to cut. Will keep you posted. Excuse the messy shop |

Leonard, That is looking terrific. The different woods are very impressive the way you did it. Please keep posting WIP photos. Can't wait to see it finished. Jackie |
