Default Chickadee

I finished my latest commissioned project, a Chickadee. The pattern is by Judy Gale Roberts and found in her book, Small Intarsia Woodworking Projects You Can Make. I enlarged the pattern so that it would fit on an 8 1/2" x 11" paper. The woods used are Aspen, Grey Maple, Poplar, Walnut, and Wenge. Thanks to Lou for suggesting the pattern. Comments welcome.

Wow Denny! - you just keep getting better and better! Now if this doesn't look spot on for a round plumpy chickadee then nothing does. I also think the branch and pine cone detail really set this one off. Great work pal!

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the comments. PLUMP it is! The grey maple is 7/8" stock, so no shims needed.

Hi Jerry,

Thanks for the comment. Not sure about 'always excellent', but I am pleased with this one.

To think not too long ago, you were a bit nervous about doing intarsia. Now look at the very professional and natural pieces you create Denny.

Very Well done!

Hi Ray,

Thank you too. I used the Dremel on the pine cones. After shapping, I applied the pattern to the wood and followed the pattern, cutting with the Dremel.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for reminding me. I remember the Goldfinch WIP and all the help provided by friends on this site.
