Default Hatteras Lighthouse box-Finished

Here are the pics of my commissioned Hatteras Lighthouse Box with the hinges, finish and lining complete. The box is 6"x 8" and uses 45 pieces from 10 different woods. .This was a fun project. Very challenging because of all the small pieces.( Thank goodness for 3 power jewelers goggles.) Here is a list of the woods used--Box and foreground-Black Walnut, Rope and white on lighthouse and seagulls-Holly, Sky- Tulipwood, Black on lighthouse-Ebony, Lighthouse light and boat-Pau Amerillo, Water-Blue Mahoe, Weeds-Lignum Vitae, Sand-Persimmon, Fence posts-Jatoba, Grey part of pedestal-Ambrosia Maple, Red of pedestal-Bubinga.

Hi Mike,

That is beautiful. Your choice of woods is amazing. What is your system for organizing all the various woods you have available?

Very nice, Mike. The intarsia certainly makes what would otherwise be a nice wooden box into a real work of art. I love the wood you used for the sky as it makes it look like a sunset.

Awesome woodworking skills, very impressive. Your detail on the box was "outta sight."
Thanks for sharing.

Mike, It is a real beauty. The lighthouse scene is fantastic. Looks like you have a real nice collection of woods, I could never remember all the names.

Mike,
the lighthouse is fabulous. Wow I can't believe your wood collection. I wish I had the space to keep that kind of wood. I am jealous.
