Those fruity magnets are easy to make and also fun because it doesn't take long to see the end results. The most challenging part is probably the grape shaping!!! Did lots of trial and error on these. I took this picture after only one coat of gel varnish. I made the designs. They all have a magnet (3/8")in the back. Had to put 2 small magnets (1/4") on the banana for better stability. Wood used Apple is made of bloodwood, poplar and rosewood Banana is made of pau amarello, canary wood and rosewood Pear is made of canary wood, brasilian lacewood and rosewood Bunch of grapes is made of purple heart, poplar and african mahogany. Note: After sanding the purple heart, the color of the wood was kind of grey. I put them in the oven at 400F for 15-20 minutes to get back the purple color, before applying the first coat of gel varnish.

These are neat Henriette. i've never really worked with purple heart - so the oven trick will come in handy someday.

Ok Henri - all is revealed!!!! speaking of which - could you please move the grape leaf well away from the banana or make it a lot bigger - the combination is too suggestive for my puritan mind! ROFL Nice fruities!
