| Ian Norbury's Race Horse- I just finished an Intarsia rendition of Ian Norbury' Racing Horse- an Arabian. I ordered plans from Mr. Norbury for horses and received plans for 3 different horses.
I have include a photo of the Horse done by Ian Norbury.
I am considering putting my finished piece on a plaque but I am not sure if the plaque will enhance it or what to wood to use.
I used Mahogany, Black Walnut and Wenge (eye). In all there are 7 pieces. I used carving techniques extensively to avoid having to cut more pieces and eliminate the heart ache of trying to get all the pieces to fit together.

| Doc, that is beautifull. as far as putting it on a block of wood. is the other side flat? if so. It might be just fine the way it is, monted on the wall. orrrrr. a block would be nice too. if you don't see the other side. then you could put it on a table anywhere. you sure did a nice job no matter what you deside. and the wood. I don't think it matters, as long as it is hard wood. or how about a solid surfess like corian, or marble.you could drill a hole for a dowl, or mettale pin. to glue into the horse head and block. very nice, your friend Evie

| Excellent as always Doc! Personally I don't think it needs a plaque- it's perfect just as it is! |

| Fine job. If you were thinking of laying it flat on a block of wood, then Evie gave me an idea. A piece of marble would look sweet, but you could mount it so it doesn't quite lay flat, but with like a 1/4 or 1/2 inch between your piece and the marble. It would be sort of floating...

| You used the grain of the wood beautifuly. I would not put it on a backer. I would hang it as is.

| Nice work. Norbury is awesome. I would leave it as is for on the wall too. I'll toss in my comments as to what I think too. The eye with the wrinkles is absolutely dead perfect. That's my favorite part of this picture. My least favorite part is the lips. I'd seperate the lips, make them a slight shade different than the rest of his snout. The lips blend into the body too much, especially towards the back. All just my opinion of course, but sharing these thoughts gives us something to think about, whether the thoughts are correct or not.

| I appreciate everyone's comments and Jeff thanks for the your observations. I agree with your comments on the lips. I think that in the sanding I inadvertently obliterated some of the details. I corrected some of them but overlooked the lips.
