| It is a mute point Jeff as I did some glueing last night.
Are you talking about the piece I put an x on?
Now that you point it out I see what you mean. The two pieces were actually cut from different boards. I wish I would have read this last night it would have been interesting to try different things. I also see what the original design was trying to do with the feather direction.
There were a couple of other things in the design that I changed as I went along.
So I will look at this as a classic example of "use the design as a guide" and then make it your own.
Thanks for your input. This is how I learn. This is only my 5th intarsia piece and only the second big one(big by my standards)
I did a flower, my Cardinal, a Kathy Wise kitten, an angel ornament and now this. Each one has tought me something.

| Yep, that's the piece that I think could be better. Think being the optimum word. I kinda get the idea that maybe it's to ruffle the feathers, but even so, that's not very ruffled looking to me. I'm no expert though, just sharing my thoughts of what I think. All my birds come with no feathers and go straight into the oven.

| Final pictures. My wife liked the heron very much. We put it in our bathroom on a cabinet that I designed to look like art hanging on the wall but actually is a pull out storage cabinet. The pictures on it are seasonal so the heron is there for the summer. Then he will move elswhere in the house. Thanks for all of the help and suggestions. Especially Chris and Janette.

| What a great idea for your cabinet door Rolf!! I have illusions (or maybe it's delusions) of doing something like that on my kitchen doors!...yeah right...someday.
Great job. Love the look of it. |

| Nice work . When we had our house built we had lots of glass put up . I had thoughts of scrolling and embellishing the walls etc. So far my wife put on that stained glass peel off patterns on a couple of doors. It's one of those - not on my cupboard doors or walls things . Next life .

| Roger,
In reality we don’t have much of my work on display for a variety of reasons.
The Heron and my Cardinal are exceptions because they have a special meaning to both of us. I only have one fretwork item on display year round (JZ Old and New train).
We don’t have much wall space except for our great room and 24 feet of that is glass and the rest wood paneling. The paneling is coming out this summer because, in my opinion, nothing looks good hanging on dark paneling. It gets lost.
Janette with some of the magnificent work that you do, on the kitchen cabinets, wow.
You just gave me an idea for a place in our kitchen where I could put an appropriate piece. Right over our stove in the center of our hood.
