Default Beginner Intarsia pattern

I just ordered the dual drum sander from Seyco and plan to try a beginner pattern. Can anyone recommend one thats for sale or in the magazine here.(I have most of the copies).

I basicaly want to try simple patterns first so I get a idea of the technique required before I try the harder patterns.

Thanks,

Dan

Lots of simple free ones available online. I think a flower like a rose would be a good first choice. just google "free intarsia patterns"

Dan, here is a link for two free patterns online, that come with instructions, a teddy bear and a rose, and there are more. A couple at JGR's site, intarsia.com and at least a couple of others.

Here's a simple hot air balloon pattern I made some time ago if you'd like to try. It would be a good one for getting used to fitting pieces together well and shaping.

I have highlighted a bunch of free intarsia patterns on my blog. Most of the freebies you find on the internet are geared toward beginners. Plus they usually come with some pretty good instructions. Take a look. Perhaps one will catch your fancy!

good luck Dan. Once I get into the swing of things, I would also like to try intarsia. That's what drew me to scroll sawing to begin with.

That's a great reference page! How about you post that in the MSN group as well if you get a chance! Free patterns are always good! I use quite a few stained glass patterns. I know a few people who use coloring books as well.

Thanks for all the input I'll be sure to check it all out while I wait for the sander to get here.
