I'm still waiting for a day off with no rain to do some spraying, so today I pulled out this old drawing of mine and whipped it up into an intarsia. Took 6 hrs to build at 41 pcs plus the plaque. Now I have two pictures to spray. The plaque is a burl cap from York Gum Burl. The fish is 2" wide and 4.5" tall, the total size with plaque is 4" wide and 10" tall. Picture is kinda whacked, it looks way cooler in person. 12 individual teeth. The burl has a cool coral look to it...I used a cone burr to flatten a section in the middle and then sanded it for ever until it was as flat as I could get it to be, which isn't 100% but plenty good enough.

Bloodwood, Holly, Satinwood, Canarywood, Paela, Walnut.

Nice way to use some of them tiny scraps anyhow...wife proclaims the picture is hers of course.

Jeff
That is one cool fish. Excellent work as usual ....very nice burl. I see an eye in the upper left of the burl, looks like an elephant eye to me.

So what's wrong with wives these days? Mine seems to think everything is hers to keep, at least until I make a second one. You know, they almost act like we are married to them

Jeff

That is really cute, an excellent use of the burr and, as Evie said, a real 'playful' fish. No wonder your wife wants it. Of course, unless you have a stock of similar burrs, this will be a one off!

Thanks, yes, he is pretty cute indeed. I sprayed him out with 3 coats semi poly and snapped a better quality not so blurry photo.
