If you do a Google image search on 'moon goddess' you'll see pictures with a similar layout, i.e., a female figure with a crescent moon. Nothing quite like yours, though. There are many ancient cultures with lunar deities, Artemis being pretty well-known. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lunar_deities How about "Selene"? Pete |

Jeff, I think it's great. The faces you create are a signature to your work. They are not perfectly life like, but they in no way detract from the beauty of the piece. They are stylistic. Great job again.

Thanx Owler. But I'm not satisfied that I can't do better. That is my ultimate goal..keep trying to push myself further. I'd be happy if I could get that 50/50 split on the face, but it's nowhere's near that, so I'm going to cut it out today and start fresh tomorrow.

I built a new face. I'm very dissapointed at my photography skills! The proportions on the new face are way improved over the last one. the left eyebrow is slightly high and the right eye tilts a hair. Man, to get perfect accuracy is such a nightmare. Her nose is almost perfect though, but it's impossible to see that in the photo. She has a slim button nose, but the wood blends into itself and casts a shado to one side making the nose appear much wider than it actually is. I do wish I went with the original eyebrows, but I can live with the new ones, and they slight angle on the eye can be considered realizism I suppose, because 99% of all people have one eye off kilter to another. At first the lips were to small and the chin had an old lady appearance that just killed it, partially due to the added neck area. I beefed up the lower lip slightly and cut off the neck. Then I adjusted the neck with a twist line as best I could. So now her neck is too long, but impossible to fix. I will try hard later when the clamps are off to get a better photo. This face really grows on you. There is a small knot that revealed itself beside her nose, makes an interesting dimple effect. I am happily satisfied. I certainly learned a ton. And okie dokie rolf...she's "Moonflower". Dale is lucky, because I'll show this piece in wisconsin come september and he'll be able to experience the true look. Photography suggestions wouldn't hurt! how do I capture the photo without the blending effect, and the shadows? This face is sculpted like a triangle, just like a real face, It cuts way back and down along the cheeks and the jawline. In the photo, it looks flat but it is so far from it...so is there a cure?

This photo is a bit better, an angled shot. I'll get some better pictures later. It has some finish on it now, but it's too shiny to photograph when wet. I think she looks awesome, especially for an amatuer like me.

Hi Jeff I thought the eyes looked much better without the lashes. Nevertheless, the latest changes are definitely an improvement, so give yourself a pat on the back, although I think the lower lip might work better if it was a little less pronounced. Gill

Thanx Gill. I had the lower lip a teeny bit smaller and she looked prudish, so I beefed it up just a notch. We here in america use cologin ...however you spell that! Actually, the first pic on the left, post 45 was the smaller lower lip. I didn't change the lenght, just added 1/16 to the width. was she really prudish looking, I don't know...it's a matter of taste I guess.

Here's a more finished Moonflower for the more mature minded over 21 crowd. It's still a little shiny, the finish isn't dry, but I'm excited to show it. http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o...nflower027.jpg So what's up with the eyelashes anyhow? I notice a majority of people don't care for them. Personally, I like them, but I'd love to hear alternate solutions.
