Ive been having problems with dust and whatever else is floating around my old house. one day my husbands friend came by and was looking at a pc of my work that was quite fuzzy. and said you know if you turn on your shower till it gets steamed up keep door closed wait 10 minutes, do topcoating in bathroom you wont get those furry things on there.( he has an accent sounded very funny) i thought ya right the humidity will screw it up....but...tried it today on a small pc and it worked fantastic. not one spot of dust cheers Darcy

Darcy, my workshop is in the basement. I try to do any sanding in a separate room than I finish in. Whenever I apply a finish to anything as soon as I am done I leave the room and stay out until the next day. Seems to work for me.

I wouldn't know how to work without dust. Norton 400, 000 steel wool and quick dry acrylic saves the day.

There is no way that method will work for me. I can't even get my finishes to dry if it is just raining outdoors. LOL

Thank you Darcy for the tip! I often will spray my item(s) in the garage and move them inside - to my bathroom in fact! I'll try running the shower first next time! T |

That's weird... I used boiled linseed oil and spry laquer on a carving on a rainy day, and the finish had milky spots. I did save the finish though with a little burnishing. I will have to keep this in mind, but not for BLO and laquer. I'll definitly try it out though. Thanks for the tip.....
