Default brain fart gimp

I'm trying to download Gimp to learn how to make my own patterns. It seems to download/install fine but it doesn't show up anywhere unless
i look under 'my computer' and then the individual files show up but I can't find an "exe" file. What am I doing wrong? Running Windows XP.

When you find it under start and programs drag it to the desktop. If you are not finding the exe file is it zipped?

And you did an install? I'd go to control panel and uninstall it and then do a clean install. Pay particulate attention to where it is being placed etc. Mine made a desktop Icon and works just fine.

Scott go to START, search, all files and folders, type in *.exe and click search. This should find all your application files (exe) then maybe you will see your program.

Stripped and re-downloaded for the 5th time. This time it set up properly, gave me an icon so now all I have to do is learn how it works. Thanks everyone for your help.
